For Hog fans and others looking for Chloe, the top-of-the-line Fayetteville steakhouse and fine-dining restaurant, the owners closed up shop just off Dickson Street on Campbell about four months ago and have moved to more spacious digs in the Signature Bank Plaza, at Joyce and Crossover streets near the NW Arkansas Mall. The chef was trained at the New England Culinary Institute. The address is 3878 N. Crossover, Suite 1; telephone is 479-442-4144. They have a full bar, and the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.
This week will mark ’cue lovers’ last chance to enjoy Tom’s Twelfth Street Bar-B-Q, as the owner has sold the property to an expanding auto parts store and will close for good Saturday, Oct. 29. The little nondescript building with Hog memorabilia on the walls is just west of Fair Park at 5508 W. 12th. Tom’s is open until 4:30 p.m. daily, and it might pay to call ahead (666-1225) as the available food may run out before the end of the week.
DOUBLE D’S ON CLINTON The pork sandwich comes loaded with meat, and if you don’t tell them to go easy on the rich sauce, you’ll be eating it with a fork or making a complete mess of it over your nice work clothes. Hey, we don’t mind the fork, and we love the tender, smoked pork. Sauce choices come in mild or hot, but the hot doesn’t overwhelm. You also have the option of slaw; take the slaw on the sandwich. It’s a full meal and cheap. The ribs either must be really good or they don’t have enough of them, because we’ve never gotten to lunch in time before we’re told the ran out. We’re setting our sights for getting their early next time and will report on the ribs. The thing about Double D’s is, we think it’s come a long ways from when the River Market opened, and it’s getting to be a regular ’cue stop for us. Meat is available by the pound. 400 President Clinton Ave., River Market. LD Mon.-Sat. $ No alcohol. 374-5322.
MOE’S SOUTHWEST GRILL We were a little indifferent about this place a few months back, but we enjoyed a recent visit where we found the quesadillas monstrous and delicious — tons of chicken, tons of cheese, and you can pick from a variety of red sauces that run from a tame sweet to a thin, almost barbecue-like fiery pepper sauce. We also love the white cheese dip here, especially with a margarita. 4834 North Hills Blvd. LD daily. $-$$ Beer, wine, margaritas. 812-5577.
