Hanaroo Sushi Bar has reopened under new ownership. Chang You is now the owner and chef at the restaurant at 205 W. Capitol Ave. Chang said little has changed with the restaurant outside of a new paint job and some new tables put in over the past couple of weeks, when the restaurant temporarily shut down. Chang has also added Monday dinner hours to Hanaroo’s schedule, which otherwise stayed the same: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays for lunch and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday for dinner. The restaurant is closed on Sunday.
The telephone number is 301-7900.
UPDATE: FAY RAY’S Downtown’s the place to go in El Dorado, several square blocks around the courthouse filled with a variety of restaurants and shops. Fay Ray’s is one of the better-known eateries in the area — a small place that, despite its white tablecloths, isn’t the least bit stuffy. We stopped in for lunch on a recent visit to town. It was a little hard for us to pick something from the menu — we were in the mood for a sandwich, and most of Fay Ray’s feature turkey. We’re more of the ham type, ourselves. But we do enjoy pesto, so we went with the Tuscan Turkey Stacker, a turkey sandwich topped with, well, pesto. It had plenty of flavor, and the side of fries suited us fine. Our companion chose the Ray Burger, a fairly massive concoction cooked perfectly and pile high with fixin’s. He wasn’t wowed, but he was satisfied. Other lunch options included a variety of salads, many topped with chicken cooked in various ways. 110 E. Elm St., El Dorado Beer and wine CC $$-$$$ 870-863-4000 D Tue -Sat.
