The Hop on Cantrell is back. A new ownership group, made up of Keith Holland of Satellite and realtors Gene Eberle and Steve Hendrix, has revived the venerable dairy bar, though without affiliation to the original Hop, now called the Hop Diner and located downtown.
According to manager Natalie Fullerton, a longtime original Hop employee, the offerings remain, essentially, the same. The eatery may add specials in the coming weeks, and a frozen Coke machine should arrive within weeks. The shaved ice machine, which was too big for the Hop Diner to move downtown, remains in the Cantrell location.
The new phone number for the Hop is 219-2200 and its hours are 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
On Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, the Arkansas Unit Herb Society of America celebrates its 42nd anniversary with the release of a new cookbook, “Celebrating Herbs: Forty Plus Years in the Herbary,” and cooking demonstrations by Boulevard Bread’s Scott McGehee and Jason Knapp, executive chef of the mansion. Tickets for the event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., are $30 and available by calling 868-6004.
