The House, the latest restaurant in the space that previously housed the Laughing Moon and Sufficient Grounds, opens for business at 4 p.m. Friday, June 26. Thereafter, it'll be open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. during the week and 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant's facebook page promises, along with eight beers on tap, a “thoughtful” wine selection and Intelligentsia coffee, that everything is made from scratch. The address is 722 N. Palm and the phone number is 663-4500.

The Arkansas Earth Institute, a local activist group, is hosting a summer discussion course on food at the Heifer Village. “Food for Life: Making the Connection between the Food We Eat and How It's Produced” will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, July 7 to Aug. 18. As the course title suggests, the course considers the risks and benefits of consuming locally grown seasonal foods. To register, e-mail HeiferVillage-Registration@heifer.org or call 907-2697. The fee is $30 before June 23; $40 after.
