 Mary Beth Ringold’s new market and restaurant will open July 16 in the new 300 Third Tower building in the River Market. Copper Grill and Grocery, as she’s calling it, will include a gourmet grocery section with a deli and an assortment of heat-and-eat options. The grill will be open for lunch and dinner and will feature American cuisine. We’re told lunch will offer lower-price items, while dinner will range towards the fancy.

 Sufficient Grounds Coffeehouse in Hillcrest is not long for this world — at least in name. In a month or so, it’ll be recast as the Laughing Moon Cafe. After a year owning the restaurant, Rebecca Esch says the name change follows her experiences with potential customers she meets who are surprised Sufficient Grounds offers more than coffee. Esch is offering a logo-design contest to local artists. The winner will receive a gift certificate for the cafe and his or her name and contact info on the menu.


KIERRE’S KOUNTRY KITCHEN Take a 30-foot-tall industrial metal building and you could have a place to pull and rebuild some Kenworth’s diesel engines, maybe a tortilla chip factory, run a print shop, or make a nice little cozy, country kitchen. Or not. This is a manly man’s eatin’ place! Where men (and a few women and families) come in hungry and want their food hot, good, fast and friendly. When we were last there, we tried a perfect chicken fried steak with three fresh, hot, puffy yeast rolls. The fried catfish plate for another didn’t disappoint. Mrs. Healthy ordered a chef salad with ham, which turned out to be a mountain load of pork. Kierre’s also does burgers and other sandwiches. And leave room here for fresh pies. A chocolate and a coconut with about three inches of meringue was our taking. We’ve enjoyed a slower-paced Saturday morning breakfast here, too. But caution on the pancakes.
