There's a new option for the long barbecue-deficient River Market. Tucked in the parking lot beyond the eastern wall of the Flying Saucer, the Big Boar BBQ stand is serving beef brisket, pork, chicken, ribs, hot dogs, nachos and more for lunch, dinner and — for River Market revelers — late-night cravings. Currently, the eatery's hours are limited to Friday and Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. all the way up to 2 a.m., but co-owners John Batton and Mark Washam hope to expand those, starting Aug. 3, to include Tuesday through Thursday, when they'll be open from 11:30 a.m. until at least midnight. Sunday and Monday, the stand will be closed.

Even though it's big and red, the trailer is obscured by Flying Saucer, an adjacent ATM and parked cars to such a degree that first-timers will have to let their noses guide them. The rolling stand's telephone number is 580-2064.
