A new “authentic” Mexican restaurant has moved into the building between the Faded Rose and the Buffalo Grill on Rebsamen Park Road. Las Casitas del Valle opened last Friday in the former home of Ed David’s Bubba and Garcia’s.

 A new barbecue restaurant, Hog Wild Cafe, recently opened in North Little Rock at 4629 E. McCain Blvd. It’s in the same strip center as Blue Coast Burrito, just east of the Wal-Mart Super Center. Barbecue beef, pork loin and ribs, chicken and sausage links with all the sides are offered. Only fountain drinks are available; no beer or wine. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The telephone number is 945-9000.

 The Franke’s cafeteria in the University Mall has posted a sign announcing that it will begin closing on Fridays and Saturdays. The cafeteria had been open seven days a week. The sign invites customers to eat at the Franke’s on Rodney Parham Road on Fridays and Saturdays. The Franke’s downtown is only open for weekday lunch. The notice gives no explanation for the change in hours.

Franke’s, which operates three cafeterias in Little Rock, claims to be the oldest restaurant in Arkansas.
