The National Soul Food Cook-off is coming to the Clear Channel Metroplex Saturday, Feb. 2, for the second year in a row. Local cooks are encouraged to enter. There are prizes for meat, vegetable, dessert, bread and miscellaneous homemade items, like pickles, jellies, BBQ sauce and hot sauce. A thousand dollars goes to the winner in the meat category (the prize money for other categories is significantly less). Admission, for those who just want to eat, not compete, is $15, less a dollar if you bring a can of food.

Kids 6 and under get in for free and 7-18 go for $11.
