After several delays, FatSam's Louisiana Cafe has opened in the northwest corner of the River Market. Chef/owner James Meadors has said he'll showcase not just the gumbos, jambalaya, etouffee and fried seafood of South Louisiana, but dishes that represent the rest of the state — pecan-smoked barbecue, hot water cornbread and white beans and ham and more.

The Certified Arkansas Farmer's Market celebrated its grand opening last Saturday in the Argenta district of North Little Rock and in Searcy. The CAFM model, based on source verifying participating farmers, is also in Hot Springs Village and, according to founder Jody Hardin, could come to three other “major” Arkansas communities in the near future.

The Argenta market is open from 7 a.m. until noon every Tuesday and Saturday through October.

After only a few months in business, Patio Pizza and Beer Garden, on Fair Park, has closed.
