Washington Regional Foundation Gala 2006 Proceeds Presented
(Fayetteville, AR) Washington Regional Foundation presented a check in the amount of $105,000 today to the emergency department at Washington Regional Medical Center. The funds represented proceeds from the 2006 Annual Gala hosted by Washington Regional Foundation, which featured An Evening with The Pointer Sisters at the Walton Arts Center on Tuesday, April 4.
Gala chair, Elise Mitchell; Foundation board chair, Mary Ann Greenwood; and Washington Regional President and CEO, Bill Bradley made the presentation to emergency department Medical Director, Dr. Mark Cameron; Mark Bever, Executive V.P. and Administrator; and LaQuitta Jech, RN, Assistant Director of emergency services.
The Gala proceeds will go toward the emergency department expansion project currently underway at the medical center. Washington Regional’s emergency department is the busiest in the state with over 51,000 visits annually. The current expansion was prompted by unprecedented growth in Northwest Arkansas resulting in a projected emergency department volumes expected to reach 70,000 patients per year in the next decade.
“Washington Regional is a valued community partner and neighbor dedicated to reaching out to others,” stated Bill Bradley. “Our continuing commitment to the community is the driving force behind this investment in the community as we expand our campus to accommodate the growing need for quality healthcare in Northwest Arkansas.”
“With the expansion, Washington Regional will make the important transition from a community emergency room to a metropolitan emergency department,” noted Mitchell. “Thanks to the generosity of all those who supported Gala 2006, Washington Regional will continue to be the leading provider of emergency services in Northwest Arkansas.”
"This year's Gala was a tremendous success,” added Greenwood. “And we owe it all to the tremendous generosity, dedication, and hard work of our exceptional sponsors, an outstanding steering committee and all of the wonderful people who volunteered their time and effort to make this event possible.”
The size of the emergency department will be doubled to accommodate current and future growth. Three new trauma rooms, for a total of 6, and 14 new treatment rooms, bringing the total to 46, will be added. An expanded waiting area is also planned as part of the project. The expanded capacity will greatly increase the number of people Washington Regional can treat, as well as having a positive impact on the quality of care and the overall emergency department experience of patients who use WRMC for their medical emergency needs.
“This expansion will enable our medical center to meet the future head-on and grow along with Northwest Arkansas,” said Bradley. “We are deeply grateful to the Gala sponsors and to everyone who helped make this contribution to our emergency department a reality.”
