Unpopular truths do not earn speaking engagements

comment

Unpopular truths do not earn speaking engagements, which is why so many speakers avoid them. One such with a high-sounding title — "chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities" — was at the Clinton School of Public Service, telling his listeners that "the center has been eroded from American politics" because party regulars on the far left and on the far right have gained control of the political process. The center has not vanished; it's just moved to the right — for various reasons, including the influence of the corporate media. Lyndon Johnson was the last liberal Democrat to be elected president. All Democratic presidents since, including the incumbent and the one for whom the Clinton School was named, have been centrists.
