LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer free prostate cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 22. The screenings will be held on the sixth floor of the ACRC on the UAMS campus.

All men ages 50-75 are eligible for the free screening. African-American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer are eligible beginning at age 40.

Registration is available by calling (501) 686-6363. Participants may arrive anytime between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and may experience a short wait. Parking is available for a nominal fee in the Outpatient Center parking deck on the corner of Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue.

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second most common type of cancer in men, after skin cancer. It is estimated that more than 234,000 American men will be diagnosed with the disease this year.
