WEIRD U.S. 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4 The History Channel (Comcast Ch. 70) While the highways and byways of Arkansas have their share of really weird stuff, there are roadside attractions in the American hinterland that make us look positively sane. In this new series, two guys named Mark (Mark Scuerman and Mark Moran) pile into an RV and go in search of some of our country’s weirdest. Featured this week: an executed killer whose skin was turned into wallets; the mysterious Appalachian people (some with six fingers) called Melungeons; a visit to Cold War bunkers and a freak show retirement community. SPRINGSTEEN: LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 AETN (Comcast Ch. 3, Broadcast Ch. 2) They don’t call him “The Boss” for nothing. With classic hits like “Dancing in the Dark,” “Thunder Road,” and “Born in the U.S.A.,” people will be listening to Bruce Springsteen as long as human beings have ears. At this show filmed live in 2000, the seasoned master reunites with the E Street Band to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal album “Born to Run.” GHOST HUNTERS 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 The Sci-Fi Channel (Comcast Ch. 36) We were saddened when one of our favorite shows — the reality spook-chaser show “Ghost Hunters” — dematerialized suddenly from the Sci-Fi Channel lineup a few months back. Lucky for us, the show has found the portal back to our TV world for another season. Here, two plumbers by day and ghost hunters by night use an array of high-tech equipment to prove (and just as often, disprove) the presence of ghosts. The season will find them in search of haints in Arkansas, visiting Eureka Springs’ supposedly ghost-infested Crescent Hotel.
