This program features one of Beethoven's early masterworks, the String Quartet Op. 18 No. 6, together with works by two outstanding and highly recognized young composers, Missy Mazzoli and Yevgeniy Sharlot. Beethoven's Opus 18 collection of quartets, together with the late works of Mozart and Haydn, represent the pinnacle of the classical string quartet form. As a complement, these contemporary works have been selected to showcase the diversity of influences and vast expressive capabilities of the modern string quartet.
