FREEDOM OF INFORMATION. A judge ruled that Little Rock Public Education Foundation records should be open to inspection because the Little Rock School District financially supported the agency.
RIVERFEST. No rain. Big crowds. Warm weather. Plenty of beverage sales. No figures were available at press time, but it looks like it was another good year for the Memorial Day weekend celebration.
CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. A student team won a national economics competition sponsored by the Federal Reserve, worth $30,000 in scholarships for the five team members and $10,000 for the school.
BUD CUMMINS. How often does getting fired land you a spot on front of the Democrat-Gazette’s High Profile section? Cummins, who was booted as U.S. attorney in Little Rock in the now-famous Bush administration purge, claimed the honor.

The ARKANSAS TRAVELERS. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette discovered that the ball club went a number of years without paying the required sales tax on concession sales. Nobody asked, the club claims. Anonymous sources claim it was a deal with the former head of the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.
NIGHTMARES. They were recalled by the scheduled release from prison of Andrew Golden, who, with a friend, gunned down five people at Westside Middle School in 1998. Golden was released on his 21st birthday with an expunged record.
The RAZORBACK FOUNDATION. So far, contributions seem lagging to the private organization that raises money to pay for University of Arkansas sports.
