‘TALLADEGA NIGHTS’
Sundown, Riverfest Amphitheatre. Free.

Last week, the Movies in the Park showing of the animated family comedy “Happy Feet” drew 2,500 folks. Now that it’s a few degrees hotter and the relief of summer nights is even sweeter, surely they can best even that impressive number. After all, we’re talking Will Ferrell. Starring in a film that was apparently purchased by a studio with one line: “Will Ferrell as a Nascar driver.” I mean, who couldn’t appreciate that? The story — which, as we all know, hardly matters in a Will Ferrell movie — revolves around born-racer Ricky Bobby, who has sons named Walker and Texas Ranger, a “red-hot smokin’ wife” and a best friend and teammate name Cal Naughton, Jr., played oafishly by John C. Reilly. Throwing a kink in all that happiness is French racer Jean Girard, played gamely by Sacha Baron Cohen. As always, Movies in the Park is free. Beach towels, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome.
