St. Joseph’s names Gardner Co-Manager of Education Services Department
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center recently named Dana Gardner, RN, BSN, Co-Manager of its Education Services Department.
Gardner, who most recently served St. Joseph’s in a Nurse Recruiter-2 West Charge Nurse-House Supervisor role, maintained the recruiting duties and is now combining them with those of her new position.
As Education Services Co-Manager, she, along with fellow Co-Manager Marlena Dodd, oversees St. Joseph’s staff, patient and continuing medical education, tuition assistance program and co-worker scholarship program. Dodd also has a dual role, serving as Regional Director of Leadership Development for the Sisters of Mercy Health System’s Arkansas Center for Training Excellence Team.
“My passion is working with people and this position gives me even more of an opportunity to do that,” said Gardner, who along with her husband, Rod, has three daughters (25-year-old Lindsey Hallerberg, 23-year-old Amie and 16-year-old Courtney) and two grandsons (four-year-old Gavin and three-month-old Grayson). “In my capacity as Nurse Recruiter, I’ve been working with new nurses through their hiring process. Now, I am combining that with the continuing education of new and existing nursing co-workers.
“I really believe serving others is what we are all about here at St. Joseph’s, and with my new combined position I get the opportunity to do that every day. I tell everyone I interview that St. Joseph’s is not just a place to work, but that it is a family place where you can grow to be the best you can be and be encouraged all along the way.”
