St. Joseph’s hopes to raise awareness with heart risk screenings
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – A heart attack occurs every 20 seconds in America, and when it does, every second counts.
In an effort to raise awareness to that fact, and at the same time recognize February as being National Heart Month, St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center will hold two heart risk screening sessions in the Mercy Room of the Mercy Heart & Vascular Center.
The heart risk screenings are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 7 and Friday, Feb. 9 from 7 to 10 a.m. Pre-registration is required and appointments will be taken on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon. To pre-register, please call (501) 622-4004 or (501) 922-5451, extension 404. Space is limited, so it is recommended that interested participants call during the Jan. 24 pre-registration period
Each individual heart risk screening will include a weight measurement, blood pressure check, blood analysis for glucose, total LDL and HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and liver enzymes. Each individual who is scheduled to be screened should not eat or drink for 12 hours prior to their screening. The cost of the screening is $10 per person and the results will be mailed to the homes of the participants.
