We went to Catering to You, the winner and regular high finisher in the best caterer category, to come up with a fine dinner where you leave the cooking to someone else.
The bottom line? Billie Rutherford, who runs the 23-year-old business, gave us by way of illustration a 92-person dinner Catereing to You threw recently. Field greens salad with basil vinaigrette, grilled pork tenderloin with raspberry salsa, nutted rice, rolls, cheese cake with a chocolate-dipped strawberry. Price: $52 each, prepared, served and cleaned up. Tax adds another 9.5 percent to that, for a total of almost $57 per head, including, well, water. Other beverages would be extra. And there might be a charge for a facility, unless your home can accommodate a crowd.
You also can throw your own dinner with gourmet to-go, gift baskets, cakes and gifts from the company’s shop at 8121 Cantrell Road.
