There’s no ready source of Arkansans among the more than 8,000 wounded. • 3/25/03 — Navy Corpsman Michael Vann Johnson, 25, of Little Rock, killed while attending to wounded Marines. • 7/26/03 — Army Pfc. Jonathan M. Cheatham, 19, of Camden, killed when his convoy came under attack from rocket-propelled grenades. • 9/12/03 — Army Master Sgt. Kevin Morehead, 33, of Little Rock, killed in Ramadi during a raid on the home of a suspected insurgent. • 9/30/03 — Army Spc. Dustin McGaugh, 20, of Derby, Kansas, formerly of Springdale, killed in a friendly-fire accident in Balad. • 10/3/03 — U.S. Army Lt. Col. Paul W. Kimbrough Sr., 44, died of a heart attack while serving in Afghanistan. • 11/02/03 — Army Sgt. Keelan L. Moss, 23, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Little Rock, killed when the Ch-47 Chinook helicopter he was riding in came under fire. • 3/7/04 — Army Capt. Gussie M. Jones, 41, a nurse who graduated from UCA, died in Baghdad of “heart attack like symptoms.” • 3/18/04 — Marine Pfc. Brandon C. Smith, 20, of Washington, killed in action in Al Qaim, Iraq. • 4/7/04 — Army Sgt. 1st Class William W. Labadie Jr., 45, of Bauxite, killed when his camp in Baghdad was attacked by mortar fire. • 4/24/04 — Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Patrick W. Kordsmeier, 49, of North Little Rock, killed when mortar rounds hit his camp in Taji. • 4/24/04 — Army Capt. Arthur L. “Bo” Felder, killed when mortar rounds hit his camp in Taji. • 4/24/04 — Army Sgt. Stacey C. Brandon, 35, killed when mortar rounds hit his camp in Taji. • 4/24/04 — Army Staff Sgt. Billy J. Orton, 41, of Humnoke, killed when mortar rounds hit his camp in Taji. • 4/25/04 — Army Spc. Kenneth A. Baker, 34, of Cabot, died in Landstuhl, Germany of injuries sustained Oct. 7, when a car bomb exploded near his Humvee in Taji. • 10/21/04 — Airman 1st Class Jesse M. Samek, 21, of Rogers. Killed when his HH-606 Pave Hawk helicopter went down in western Afghanistan.
