Small-school champions

comment

Two Arkansas congressmen are among the 14 sponsors of a bill that would "correct" a provision of the federal school-funding formula they say favors large school districts over small districts. They are Mike Ross, a (Blue Dog) Democrat from the Fourth District, and Rick Crawford, a Republican from the First District. Nine of the 14 sponsors are Republicans. The bill is the work of the Rural School and Community Trust, whose members have fought mandatory school consolidation laws, including Arkansas's.
