Alice Walton announced this week that Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, which she is building in Bentonville, has acquired a Thomas Moran landscape from the Harvey and Bernice Jones Trust. Harvey Jones, the trucking magnate from Springdale, once had Moran's "Autumn Landscape" hanging in his office. The 39 3/4-x-63 1/2 inch oil was painted in 1865. Dwight Primiano provided the photographic image of the artwork. In a news release, Joel Carver, president of the Jones trust board, said, “Bernice did not know it was a Moran when she purchased it -- she just liked it and thought it would look good in Harvey's office.”
