NEW YEAR'S EVE TO-DOS
By Fritz Brantley and Lindsey Millar

NEW YEAR'S EVE RIVERTOP PARTY
8 p.m., the Peabody. $40 adv./$50 d.o.s.

No one does New Year's Eve bigger than the Peabody. The Venus Mission, an '80s cover band out of Memphis that  probably draws better and more consistently than any touring act that comes through, plays the Peabody Ballroom, while Little Rock's favorite cover band the Gettys holds it down in the Arkansas Ballroom. Another, long-tenured party group Tragikly White, is in the lobby, and piano and sax duo Wine & Roses offers more elegant fare at Mallard's. High up in the Pinnacle Room Power 92's Tre' Day gets things jumping on the ones and twos. At midnight a balloon will drop and there'll be a champagne toast. Partygoers must be 21 or older. LM

MC MESSIANIAN/THE ENEMY/TREASURE FINGERS
8 p.m., the Village. $12.50.

Was it wrong we thought this would be a metal show? Ring in your New Year's with a joyous blast of uh, hardcore rap, blistering drum and bass and lascivious electro. Can you guess which is which? Treasure Fingers, from Hotlanta, has been passing around a few DJ mixes, but plays Little Rock for the first time. The Enemy is one of the members of DNB collective Evol Intent, leaving MC Messinian, the fiercely independent MC from Los Angeles. FB

607 PRESENTS NEW YEAR'S EVE STUDIO 54
9 p.m., Gusano's. $20.

So many theme parties, only one night a year to do them. Don't worry, though, this Studio 54 party is markedly different. No Andrea True Connection, white suits (hopefully) and pointing up and down. Instead, DJ Discipline and 607 are planning both a rap set and an evening of the best “'60s/'70s/'80s/'90s you never heard.” Certainly a wide range! If Discipline and 607 are to be trusted, however, it's sure to be a wide range of
under-listened-to, overly-awesome music. Plus, a 90-minute set from 607 that promises to get the crowd jumping. The cover charge allows comers to pub crawl between Gusano's and Ernie Biggs. Dress is informal and there will be free champagne and party favors. Call Gusano's to reserve a table, 374-1441, or Doyle at 580-6856. FB

FIREBALL2
9 p.m., Rumba-Revolution and Sticky Fingerz. $20.

A perk when you own two clubs in one entertainment district: You can host huge multi-venue parties. For the second year in a row, Rumba-Revolution and Sticky Fingerz team with Scarlet Boutique to throw a huge New Year's party. Red attire is encouraged. First Impressions will perform at Revolution, Four on the Floor will do rock covers at Sticky Fingerz and longtime local DJ Rob-O will be spinning in Rumba. There will also be party favors, a champagne toast and a fondue bar. LM

JET420/DJ CHUCKY P
4:30 p.m., Cajun's Wharf. $25.

Ever-revolving local collective Jet420 plays goodtime classic and modern rock at Cajun's New Year's party, with DJ Chucky P also offering up dance jams. The cover charge gets you access to an appetizer bar, party favors and champagne. Local guitarist Richie Johnson plays happy hour. The restaurant will also offer special menu items. LM
