Chamber Christmas The Arkansas Chamber Singers’ annual celebration of the holidays, “Carols of the Season,” takes the group to two churches in Little Rock this weekend. The ACS will present its program of sacred and secular holiday favorites at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Mississippi St., then 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Cathedral of St. Andrew downtown. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Vespers Choir, under the direction of Michael Bates, will join the ACS for both shows. The UAPB Vesper Choir is the school’s select choir, numbering 65 members, and was organized in the 1940s. The program will include excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah”; familiar carols arranged by ASC music director and conductor John Erwin; and “A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas,” arranged by Craig Courtney. That work includes a selection of holiday spirituals and features the combined choirs on the concluding “Go Where I Send Thee!” Tickets at the door both nights are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
