Perhaps Arkansas's finest living songwriter, Jim Mize, shares a bill with his sometimes guitarist Chris Michaels, who's readying a solo debut, at White Water, 9 p.m., $5. Long a favorite at Sticky Fingerz, Red Dirt rocker Wade Bowen returns to the chicken shack, 9 p.m., $10 adv., $12 d.o.s. From Donaldson, the family band Posey Hill offers high harmonies and bluegrass break-downs at the Old State House's “Bands on the Bricks” free outdoor concert series, 5:30 p.m., free. The group Western Meds has dissolved; now, the name signals Rod Bryan and an occasional collaborator or two playing experimental music. Catch him/them at the House, 6-9 p.m., free. Conway rockers Don't Stop Please perform an all-ages show at Revolution, 9 p.m., $5 (21 and up), $10 (under 21). It's two gigs in one night for the Ted Ludwig Jazz Trio, who start at the Capital Bar, 5 p.m., free, before playing Thursday jazz night at the Afterthought, 8 p.m., $5. The Travs open up a weekend home stand against the Tulsa Drillers at Dickey Stephens, 7:10 p.m., $6-$10.

Popular post-grunge, hard rock act Four on the Floor returns to Sticky Fingerz, which it typically packs out, 9 p.m., $5. At Ya Ya's, local rock 'n' soul group the Big John Miller Band covers songs you know, 8 p.m., free. Freewheeling folk rockers Damn Bullets return to White Water, 10 p.m., $5. Power 92's Tre' Day spins R&B and hip-hop jams at the Peabody's RiverTop Party, which will also feature steel drummer Harp from Trinidad, the Sirens dance team and a limbo contest, 9 p.m., $5. On the Rocks hosts local rock band Jeff Coleman and the Feeders, 9 p.m., $5. At the Afterthought, Rodney Block and Company deliver a funky brand of jazz, 9 p.m., $7. Stylistically diverse rock band Notion headlines at Cajun's, 9 p.m., $5. Little Rock-based alt-rockers the BreakThrough shares the bill at Juanita's with Poor Boy Tango, 10 p.m., $7.

 

SATURDAY 7/18

Austin's Reckless Kelly brings its country rock to Revolution, 9 p.m., $12 adv., $14 d.o.s. It's an anniversary show  at Sticky Fingerz for bands with members who graduated five years ago from UCA featuring Rollin' Jack Dandies, Almost Legends and the Red Suite, 9 p.m., $6. Vino's concludes a battle of the bands with Rigby Fawkes, Chasing the Shadows, Townsend, Rusty Hook and Battle Within squaring off, 8 p.m., $5.
