At Cajun's Wharf, local song slinger Richie Johnson entertains the happy-hour crowd, 5:30 p.m., before the Big John Miller Band gets bluesy for the late evening crowd, 9 p.m., $5 after 8:30 p.m. Downtown club Sway hosts its weekly "V.I.P. Thursday" night with DJ Silky Slim behind the decks, 8 p.m. Roots rocking three-piece Jonathan Wilkins and the Reparations take to Sticky Fingerz alongside up-and-coming indie pop act Catskill Kids, 9 p.m., $5. Harmonies and guitar tones abound at Vino's when the locals of Whale Fire, Inner City Lights, Knox Hamilton and Scenery take the bill, 7 p.m., $6. The jazzy, Americana sounds of Smittle Band fill The Afterthought, 8 p.m., $5. Revolution rolls out the Red Dirt carpet with Trey Hawkins Band, 9 p.m., $5.

FRIDAY 12/17

Local jam-band heavies Weakness for Blondes noodle away at Sticky Fingerz, 10 p.m., $5. The newly reinvented stage at The Underground (formerly Underground Pub) brings The Pacifiers, 10 p.m. Heavy modern rockers are all over town when Taylormade takes to North Little Rock for a gig at Fox and Hound, 10 p.m., $5; The Gettys hit the stage at West End Smokehouse and Tavern, 10 p.m., $5; and Bushdog plays Cajun's Wharf, 9 p.m., $5. Vino's hosts a singer/songwriters-in-the-round night with country-flavored troubadours David Adam Byrnes, Ryan Couran, Luke Williams, Aaron Owens and Matthew Huff, 10 p.m., $10. The monthly Cool Shoes dance party at the Downtown Music Hall brings the holiday spirit with DJ Wolf-E-Wolf, 10 p.m.

SATURDAY 12/18

The Afterthought hosts a "Christmas Jam" with pianist Carl Mouton and a revolving door of local jazz talent, 9 p.m., $7. Saturday's other Christmas Jam comes to Cornerstone Pub & Grill courtesy of the Arkansas River Blues Society, 9 p.m. And we're not done yet: 103.7 The Buzz hosts its annual "Christmas Karaoke Contest" at Wildwood Park, with local reporters, politicians and radio personalities belting out the classics to benefit Youth Home, 7:30 p.m. Bluegrass is the order of the night at Midtown Billiards with The Crumbs picking and fiddling into the wee hours, 12:30 a.m., $8 non-members. Pizza D'Action hosts a charity toy drive with music from Whale Fire and Mandy McBryde and the Holy Ghosts, 10 p.m., $5 or a toy donation. Beloved Little Rockers Velvet Kente play White Water Tavern, 10 p.m., $7.
