Green’s concert moves to October

Al Green will perform in concert at the Riverfest Amphitheatre, but it will be Oct. 27 rather than this Saturday, as the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, the William J. Clinton Foundation and the River Market had planned.

Green was going to lead the finale frivolity for the River Market’s ongoing 10th Anniversary summer celebration as well as honor-ing former President Clinton on his 60th birthday, but the recent continuous heat wave made LRCVB officials wary of staging a show.

Now, the concert will be on a Friday night at the amphitheater, before the University of Arkansas’s football game the next day with Louisiana-Monroe at War Memorial Stadium. The new concert time Oct. 27 will be at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m.

Jim Rice, the chief operating officer of the LRCVB, said in a press release: “As we reviewed the situation, it became clear to us that the summer heat was playing havoc with our event. Al Green was gracious enough to accommodate our new date.”

Tickets already purchased will be valid for the Oct. 27 date. A full refund will be provided to ticket holders who request one. Call Ticketmaster at 975-7575. Also, for purchases, contact Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com online, or most Harvest Foods stores) or buy them at Celebration Attractions, 300 S.
