The Second City, the first name in comedy improv troupes, which has turned out such comedy stars as John Belushi, Bill Murray, Robert Kleine, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd and many others over almost a half-century, brings its touring show to the Arkansas Repertory Theatre beginning Wednesday, Sept. 27.
The Second City will perform various skits and take suggestions from the audience for an encore improv session — a style of comedy that has wowed Rep goers for several seasons. This performance will mark the fifth return of the Second City in seven seasons.
Current events always play a part in the ever-changing Second City show, which this year is titled “Truth, Justice or the American Way.” The Second City’s spoof of relationships, politics and family life plays here through Oct. 8.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. Wednesday, 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday. The Second City will also be part of improv classes at the Rep on Sept. 30.
Tickets range from $20 to $35. Call 378-0405 for information on the shows or the classes.
A special benefit performance, BrewHaHa, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 26. All seats are $25; the ticket price includes brews in the lobby followed by a 7 p.m. show. Call the Rep for more details.
