Vince Neil’s partially torn calf muscle will not slow down Motley Crue, which brings its raucous power metal rock to Alltel Arena on Friday, Sat. 23.
A report from the Crue’s traveling freak show in Memphis last weekend reported that the group was in fine, and very loud, form.
There is no opening act on the “Carnival of Sins” tour with singer Neil, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Nikki Sixx and bassist Mick Mars reunited for perhaps the last time. After all, Tommy Lee will someday have his college degree thanks to reality TV and go find a real job.
The notoriously boozing and drug-using group is touring in support of its platinum-selling anthology album “Red, White and Blue” on the Island/Universal label. The album, which has three newer songs as well as classic hits, debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard album charts and added to the Crue’s 40 million in record sales during its 24-year history. On Oct. 4, the Crue releases its first live concert double DVD.
This tour includes fire-breathing midgets, aerial displays and assorted circus freaks. “All that was missing from this show was someone being shot out of a cannon,” read a Toronto Sun review.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $46.75 and $66.75 plus service charge through Ticketmaster outlets (Harvest Foods stores, www.ticketmaster.com, 975-7575) or the arena box office (975-9000).
