The first single from Kris Allen's forthcoming album is available for streaming on the blog. It's called “Live Like We're Dying,” and it's an almost note-for-note cover of a demo by rising Irish band the Script (they've opened for Paul McCartney several times).
In other Allen news, the Conway church where he served on the worship team before winning “American Idol” is the fastest growing church in the country, according to a survey just released by Outreach magazine and LifeWay Research. According to the report, New Life Church in Conway grew by 2,200 members this year, a 61 percent jump.
Probably Little Rock's greatest-ever bar band, Smoke Up Johnny, called it quits back in July, but its label, Thick Syrup, is now offering a free download of its sophomore album, appropriately titled “The End.” At 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, White Water and Thick Syrup host a listening party for the album.
The long-anticipated debut mixtape by Suga City is out now, too, and available for free download.

Brooklyn indie pop band Bishop Allen, which includes Little Rock's Christian Rudder on guitar, returns to Sticky Fingerz on Nov. 15.
