Myles Savage, the lead singer from the Platters, has organized stars from other legendary pop/R&B groups the Coasters, the Drifters and the Temptations for a Katrina Assistant Relief Effort (KARE) concert on Saturday, Sept. 24. The show begins at 7 p.m. at Robinson Center Music Hall. The performers have been performing the show at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for years. Savage is joined by Ron Richardson, lead singer from Cornell Gunter’s Coasters; Bobby Ruffin, lead singer from Beary Hobbs’ Drifters; and Wolf Johnson from Richard Street’s Temptations. Each will perform his group’s classic songs while the other singers provide backup. Look for such memorable songs as “Charlie Brown,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “My Girl” and “Only You.” Tickets are $39.75 through all Ticketmaster outlets (975-7575) or the Robinson box office (call Celebrity Attractions, 244-8800).
