The publication date of the Arkansas Times fell close to April Fools Day in 1988, which was a good-enough reason to roll out the first and last issue of the "Arkansas Enquirer." It was a thoroughly tongue-in-cheek dig at some of the highlights and lowlifes of the day, full of such revelations as "Mom-to-be reads Wally Hall, gives birth to illiterate baby!!!" and "Frank Broyles warns: if Razorback fund donors are revealed, God is going to call me home!" Too bad it was the last. Had we been running a smutty rumor mill during the reign of Kenneth Starr in our fair state, we'd probably all be retired to Tahiti by now.
