Woody Allen's latest film "Cassandra's Dream" found a North American distributor. The Weinstein Company, who played a role in a few of Allen's former (and better) films "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Mighty Aphrodite" bought the rights. The film is to be released before the end of the year.
Allen's picked up a bit of press recently because his film was offered the Closing Night slot at the Cannes Film Festival. Allen passed because, as reports indicated, Allen viewed the offer as an insult. Not sure if any of that is true. Nonetheless, the film was shopped around Cannes and still, according to several reports, hasn't found a UK distributor despite the star power and the fact that it is set in London.
The early buzz on "Cassandra's Dream" is that is more sober than "Match Point," a film Allen released two years ago that earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Colin Farrell, Tom Wilkinson and Ewan McGregor star.
