Patrick Goldstein of the LA Times sounds off on what he calls "Hollywood's maniacal devotion to sequels." His primary target is Steven Spielberg who is set to begin production on the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones frachise in June.
I can see his point. I too have long wondered why Spielberg and George Lucas were interested in revitalizing this series. That said, it's certain to make a lot of money (that is, if Lucas didn't get his palms on the script and screw it up) and isn't that what moviemaking at major studios is all about these days?
