Biggest Hollywood opening ever. That's what you'll be hearing on Monday morning when the final numbers from "Spider-Man 3" are released. It looks like $148 million is the number, evicerating "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" which previously held the record of $135 million. Nikke Finke's Deadline Hollywood Daily has a breakdown of the numbers.
The reviews for this film are still pretty miserable, including my own. It has a 45% Cream of the Crop rating on Rottentomatoes.com. But as we've seen with so many films, there's a real disconnect between the opinions of critics and box office results when it comes to films like "Spider-Man 3" with a dedicated fan base.
