Joey Lauren Adams has her directorial debut Come Early Morning out this fall.
Billy Bob Thornton has School for Scoundrels out later this year as well as two films The Astronaut Farmer
and Mr. Woodcock
in post production.
Josh Lucas had two films Glory Road and Poseidon released in 2006 as is currently working on an untitled project
to be directed by Tod Williams (The Door in the Floor).
Wes Bentley, you ask? Remember him? He's the guy who was plucked out of a RENT audition line and got a prime time role in American Beauty. He followed that up with a few stinkers including The Four Feathers and after a three year hiatus from the big screen, he's got four projects in the works including Ghost Rider
, based on the Marvel character and starring Nicolas Cage.
Mary Steenburgen has 5 films in pre or post production. Nobel Son
, starring Alan Rickman, Danny DeVito, and Bill Pullman looks promising. It's directed by Randall Miller, who recently directed Steenburgen in Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing & Charm School. The same goes for The Dead Girl, which has an impressive cast including Toni Collete, Brittany Murphy, Marcia Gay Harden, James Franco, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kerry Washington.
And I have to mention my old friend Kathryn Francis Tucker. While not acting, she is lighting up the production and directorial scene. She's recently wrapped work on Oliver Stone's World Trade Center, Idlewild as well as a slew of televison programs including Grey's Anatomy.
