I called AT&T the other day. I have had a phone for several years now that I do not use, – only so that I can get DSL. They told me that it is no longer necessary to have a home phone line if you want AT&T DSL. By getting rid of the phone line I never use, my bill will go from about $80 to $29 ( no tax on internet DSL apparently).   When I signed up for DSL they were very clear that I had to have a phone line.   Did they let me know this policy changed- of course not.
