George Bush was in Arkansas this week "Republicans in Arkansas and elsewhere will surprise pollsters and pundits again" President George W. Bush told a cheering crowd at a rally for Arkansas Republican candidates Monday. He was right - who would have predicted such a blow-out?

I don't have the state-wide election results yet, but here are the Pulaski County results. th

Some interesting things I have concluded looking at the numbers.

If you are a republican, no matter how bad of a candidate you are, even if you were just fired by the Republican governor, you will get a minimum of 30% of the vote. ( I'm thinking go of the treasurer's race with Chris Morris, who had about a $5,000 budget and had been told not to run by the Governor ) Even if you are Republican Mickey "Stubby" Stumbaugh, the mayor of Cabot, hyou will get 31% -- you can't do worse as a republican it seems.

So if that is the absolute worst a Republican can do - that is the benchmark - its a "gimme" they will get 30%.   That means, for all of Hutchinson's money, time, and effort, he "earned" only 8%, Gunner, "Lil' Tom" Delay only got 4%, Lagrone got 6%, Mayberry got about 3%, and Holt got about 8% as well.

In the race where there was no Republican, the Greens got about !5%, meaning at least 1/2 of the Republicans voted for the Democrat instead of the Green party, but for the most part did not simply abstain.

62% of Pulaski County registered voters turned out -- which is amazing to me.

Asa didn't even get 1000 more votes than Holt
