Former (another thing to give thanks for this Thanksgiving) Washington County Justice of the Peace Bill Yancey has weighed in on the county building an animal shelter - or doggie house, as the ever-sensitive Yancey put it.
The former Prairie Grove Republican JP went further, and wrote that while he sometimes has a problem with dogs, he knows how to deal with the problem “exceptionally well.”
This is the same Bill Yancey, who, while on the Quorum Court, said that environmentalists were a “bunch of idiots,” and that much environmental regulation was at the behest of unknown corpoate forces.
In 1998, while voting to deprive gay employees in Washington County of job protections they had enjoyed for a decade, Yancey said that having such job protections only reminded people that they could sue somebody if they wanted to, adding that he was not interested in what people did “for entertainment.”
With the current popularity of the Tea party in some quarters, perhaps Comrade Yancey might consider another run for office. He’d be right up their dark alley.
Quote of the Day
If every day a man takes orders in silence from an incompetent superior, if every day he solemnly performs ritual acts which he privately finds ridiculous, if he unhesitatingly gives answers to questionnaires which are contrary to his real opinions and is prepared to deny his own self in public, if he sees no difficulty in feigning sympathy or even affection where, in fact, he feels only indifference or aversion, it still does not mean that he has entirely lost the use of one of the basic human senses, namely, the sense of humiliation. —Vaclav Havel
