Devotees of the art of architecture will not want to miss this: University of Arkansas architecture professor Jeff Shannon, who has edited a collection of essays by colleagues, clients and friends of famed Fayetteville architect Fay Jones, will give a talk about the book Tuesday, July 11, at the Arkansas Arts Center.

“Shadow Patterns: Reflections on Fay Jones and His Architecture” includes writings by Finnish architect Juhani Pallasmaa; Washington University architecture professor Robert McCarter; Shannon’s colleague Ethel Goodstein-Murphree; journalist Roy Reed; novelist Ellen Gilchrest and others on the modernist architect, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright and winner of the American Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal.

The talk is presented by the Architecture and Design Network. A reception at 5:30 p.m. precedes the lecture, which is free. WordsWorth Books will be on hand selling the books and Shannon will be signing them.

Shannon, a former dean of the Fay Jones School of Architecture, will give another talk at 6 p.m. July 20 at the Fayetteville Public Library as part of the UA Press Spotlight Series.
