Violinist and conductor Geoffrey Robson, associate conductor of the Arkansas Symphony
Orchestra since 2008, was awarded the first Respighi Prize for Conducting this week, bestowed by the Chamber Orchestra of New York to honor the legacy of Italian composer Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936).

Respighi’s “Pines of Rome” was part of last November’s “Return to Robinson” concert, the ASO’s first in the renovated Robinson Center. As the winner, Robson will make his Carnegie Hall debut at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, conducting the Chamber Orchestra of New York in works by Mozart and Haydn.
