More than 80 artists will show work rejected by the juror for the Arkansas Arts Center's annual "Delta Exhibition"
when the "Delta des Refuses"
opens tomorrow, June 1, at the Thea Foundation, 401 Main St. in Argenta. Thea says the show is one of the largest its ever hung.
The show, founded by artist and Laman Library Argenta gallery director Rachel Trusty
, is the second annual; the name refers of course to the "Salon des Refuses" in Paris in 1863 where "Dejeuner sur l'herbe"
by Édouard Manet and works by other artists who rejected strict representation and had been rejected by the French Salon showed their work.
The Arts Center's exhibition opens June 10. Liz Garvey
, co-founder and owner of Garvey-Simon Art Access Inc., is the juror.
There will be a reception for the "Delta des Refuses" from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 17,
Argenta ArtWalk. The show will run through July 17. You can see a partial list of artists whose works will be in the show here
. Others include Steve Walker
