The Historic Arkansas Museum has put together a group show of work from its permanent collection by some of Arkansas’s finest contemporary artists; see it tonight HAM’s 2nd Friday Art Night reception, 5-8 p.m.
“Arkansas Contemporaries: Then, Now, Next” includes work by Bryan Massey, Warren Criswell, Katherine Strause, John Harlan Norris, Katherine Rutter, Grace Mikell Ramsey and others.
HAM will lubricate its visitors tonight with craft cocktails by Pink House Alchemy of Fayetteville and entertain them with music by Shannon Wurst. And! You can enter to win a box of chocolates from Cocoa Rouge, a $500 value! (Just kidding. Sort of.)
That makes 2nd Friday irresistable. I’m headed there now.
That’s not all, as the TV commercials say. Arkansas Capital Corp. at 200 River Market Ave. is hosting a printmaking demonstration, “Behind the Ink,” in association with exhibition “Printmakers Under 30,” work by Ben Watson, Daniella Napolitano, Catherine Kim, Kristin Karr and Regan Renfro. Not to be outdone, the Butler Center opens “Panoramic Painting,” curated by panoramic painter Matthew Lopas, associate professor at Hendrix College. Over at Gallery 221 and Art Studios 221, see new works by Kasten McClellan Searles.
