Arts consultant and "Be Smart About Art" founder Susan Mumford will give a talk about her new book, "Art Is Your Life. Make It Your Living.," TONIGHT at M2 Gallery in the Pleasant Ridge Town Center.

Mumford, an Arkansas native and Hendrix College graduate who now lives in London and New York, compiled writings from her Sunday blog, "The Art World in Bite Sized Stories," for the book, illustrated by photographer Chris King. Mumford, King and gallery owner Mac Murphy (also a Hendrix alum; you know how those Hendrix people are) will give a talk from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Dec. 22 about making and collecting art. Copies of the book will be available ($17.50); the event starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs to 8:30 p.m.

Mumford and King put on the first exhibition at South on Main when they opened "Crossing Borders" in August 2013. (It was also the last exhibition, as far as I know.) Mumford has also spoken at her alma mater about "breaking in to the big bad art world," as she called it in a notice about the talk.

M2 Gallery's Holiday Show and sale (prices reduced) will be on exhibit and refreshments will be served.
