The winner of a sculpture competition will be revealed at the Arts Center Contemporaries' Third annual Fountain Fest fundraiser, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22. Images here are of the top five designs chosen from a dozen submissions.

The competition is new to the festival, as is a raffle for a $1,200 Louis Vuitton purse, which is pretty highfalutin.

The event will feature music by DJ Mike Poe and will be catered by David's Burgers, Cupcakes on Kavanaugh, Lost Forty and Stone's Throw Brewing. There will also be printmaking demonstrations by Neal and Tammy Harrington. Tickets are $40.

The winner of the sculpture competition, for an installation in the currently unadorned Carrie Remmel Dickinson Fountain, will receive $1,000, donated  by the Markham Group. Finalists are Tod "Switch" Swiecichowski ("An Arkansas Gem"); Eric SpannBrian Felland and Mike Brown ("A Thai Oasis"), an ephemeral installation of paper lanterns; Hunter Brown (two designs using painted stainless steel), and John Steward ("Tensegrity Basket Concept").

The Contemporaries is an auxiliary group is open to ages 21-45; membership in the group, which includes tours and special events, is $30 (or $40 for a couple).
