Though artists have a reputation as being so involved in creation that they are a bit flighty in other areas of their life, they certainly want to sell, publish or perform. Artist INC, the business organization for literary, performing and visual artists founded by the Mid-America Arts Alliance
, answers the need. For the third year, Artist INC returns to Argenta with free workshops over the summer and a paid, 8-week program in the fall.
The "What Works"
workshops will be held 6-8 p.m. May 18 and June 8 at Art Connection, 204 E. Fourth St. The free workshops will cover careers, financial planning, marketing, goal setting and more.
Beginning Sept. 14, Artist INC Live Argenta
will bring 25 artists together once a week through Nov. 2 to focus on how to make a living as an artist. The Argenta Arts Foundation
, with support from UMKC Innovation Center and Mid-America staff, will direct the program. Artists Kevin Kresse, Matt McLeod, Kristina Marinova, Dominique Simmons, Judy Goss and Kandy Jones will also provide guidance. The cost is $125; deadline to apply is July 5. Applications will be available later at the Artist INC Live Argenta application link.
