Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art today announced its acquisition of Georgia O'Keeffe's "Jimson Weed/White Flower" (though it had been widely reported earlier) and that it will exhibit painting and others by the artist from the museum's collection March 28 through May 10.

Also in the show: "Small Purple Hills" (1934, oil on board), "Feather and Brown Leaf" (1935, oil on canvas) and a sculpture, "Abstraction" (modeled in 1946, cast circa 1979-80; white-lacquered bronze).

"Jimson Weed" (oil on canvas, 48 by 40 inches, 1932) sold at Sotheby's Nov. 20, 2014, American Art auction for $44 million. Crystal Bridges calls it "one of the iconic flower images for which O’Keeffe became famous."

One of three versions of "Abstraction" was bought last year in a Christie's auction for $1,061,000. Crystal Bridges did not give the size of the sculpture, so it's not known if the one sold last year is the same sculpture, though the modeling and casting date are the same. According to a report in Maine Antiques Digest on the sale, O'Keeffe "envisioned it outside, against a blue sky."
