Moody Brew’s beer craftsman Josiah Moody recently went back to his old stomping grounds at Vino’s Brew Pub, his former employer, and attempted to capture more of his magic in a keg as he’d done there for several years before leaving to venture out on his own last year. This time he was brewing a very special wedding beer for his lovely Belgian fiancé, Katchiri, and we are invited to share the debut of this creation on Friday, Feb. 27, at Vino’s starting at 5 p.m.
Katchiri’s Bier is an 8 percent Belgian farmhouse ale hopped assertively with American hops. Moody says to “expect berry, pine, and apricot aromas before spicy and fruity esters greet your palate, derived from Saison yeast.” I personally always expect complexity from the style, a perfect definition of Belgian brewing philosophy and a great choice to pay homage to his fiancé’s homeland.
Very little was kegged as most of the batch went into wine barrels for aging, so don’t skip this chance and risk missing out. Also on tap will be his Imperial IPA Half Seas Over and even a rare keg the Apple Blossom Brewing Company collaboration with Moody Brews, Earl Grey ESB. Happy hour prices will be in effect and of course there are plenty of Vino’s house brews to choose from as well.
Katchiri, Josiah and their beautiful “collaboration” Aria will all be on hand to greet you.
