The exhibition “Reflections on Line & Mass: Paintings & Sculpture by Robyn Horn” opens tonight (Friday, Jan. 9) at the Butler Center Galleries (401 President Clinton) with a 2nd Friday Art Night reception from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. I’d say Horn’s abstract work on paper and canvas, inspired by her woodwork and its play with texture, form and movement, is some of the strongest work being done in Arkansas today. The show runs through April 24.

Blues artist Blind Boy White will perform in the gallery tonight, and the retail space will give special focus to bead artist Debby Gwaltney.

Also opening tonight: The Arkansas Capital Corp. Group gallery (200 River Market, Suite 400) is showing paintings by Elizabeth Weber, Dan Thornhill and Ashley Saer in a show called “Life by Design.” Another threesome, Justin Bryant, Lilia Hernandez and Logan Hunter, are showing their work at the Cox Creative Center (120 River Market Ave.)

Kevin Kerby is providing the tunes tonight at the Historic Arkansas Museum (200 E. Third), where “this is the garden; colors come and go,” paintings, sculpture and mixed media by Rachel Trusty, and “Under Pressure: The Arkansas Society of Printmakers Exhibition” continue.

The Old State House Museum (300 W. Markham) is showing the film “End of the Line,” with Kevin Bacon, Mary Steenburgen and Levon Helm, at 6 p.m.; KLRE/KUAR’s Ben Fry introduces and will lead a discussion after the screening.

Off the beaten 2nd Friday track but part of the fun is the exhibition of award-winning architectural designs at StudioMAIN (1423 Main St.)

As always, the rubber-wheeled River Market trolley will provide transportation between galleries.
