1. Arkansas Bo ft. 607, J-Lar & Suga City - "Take Our Time"

Stuttgart-native, Suga City co-founder and Dallas transplant Arkansas Bo is one of the state's greatest hip-hop exports, with his gruff baritone and intuitive feel for grown-up country rap in the Scarface mold. He apparently left town to take a job with Fed Ex, but he's stayed in touch, held onto his first name and it's still an event here when his new tape drops.

2. Country Florist - "A Better Bird"

Another track from Andrew Morgan's cassette-only new release (as Country Florist) for Drawing Room Records. I hear they're even planning a reissue of Morgan's legendary early aughts Little Rock band Chinese Girls's stuff, maybe even later this year. Keep your fingers crossed.

3. Lo Thraxx - "World Blow"

Lo Thraxx's new tape "$harkansas" is still in the works, but here's another single, about "decisions" and "priorities," with a video courtesy of Young Gods of America. He'll be on tour with YGOA, Taylor Moon and Vile Pack this fall — look for them at Vino's, at the Syc House in Fayetteville, Greenwood Studios in Conway and a "Location TBA" house party in Memphis.

4. Drick Stonie ft. Kinga - "Take Off"

Drick Stonie was at Lulav the other day filming a video for this, the single from his new tape "Kings and Gods." I like the piano and the laser bass, the raw, Jeezy energy, and the way he says "like a sunny, sunny day."
